RCF Winchester's Duke
Here is a CPeruvian Winchester son to make his pappy proud! Winchester's Duke is out of our blue-ribbon winning dam, RCF TarBaby. Duke has outstanding fiber, fine, dense, crimpy, with wonderful hand and character, and his coverage is phenomenal! I had to shear him in places that I have never shorn before! All of that fiber is packed onto a very sturdy frame with beautiful proportions and excellent conformation. I have not yet found anything to fault in this little fellow. The judge at the VAOBA Expo, Tim Lavan, placed him first in his class, calling him the "standout in the class." He was in strong competition for the Reserve Championship, but lost out to an older male who had a bit more uniformity, according to Tim. I seriously doubt that will be the last shot he has at one, for his show career is just beginning. I believe this is the finest cria that has been produced here at Rock Chimney Farm to date. It will be exciting to watch him come into his full potential! Sire: CPeruvian Winchester - Dam: RCF TarBAby DOB: November 2005 Sale Price: $12,000 |

RCF Luck of the Draw
Born in the spring of 2006, our Luck of the Draw was named a bit "tongue-in-cheek," as he was our 8th male cria in a row. Luck is another potential Junior herdsire bred and born at RCF, out of Grizzabella and sired by Royal Peruvian Challenger. Challenger usually stamps his cria with his excellent conformation, and Luck is no exception. He also inherited a number of his dam's fine fiber characteristics, only surpassing her in the wonderful softness of its hand. Grizz is one of the most placid and reliable alpacas I have ever known, and his temperament promises to be outstanding as well. All around, this is one promising little fellow! Watch out for this boy....I am betting that he is going to make his mark in a number of ways! Sire: Royal Peruvian Challenger - Dam: Grizzabella DOB: May 2006 Sale Price: $3,500 |

HG's Shadow
Shadow has lustrous, blue-black fiber with good "hand" and dense coverage. She is an extremely good-looking girl with excellent conformation and an outstanding head. You have to work at it to ruffle this girl's feathers! Shadow has produced five healthy, beautiful babies with ease. Her second, sired by Lord Byron, was a blue ribbon winner at the MaPaca Jubilee. Her next two, RCF Hulla and RCF Mystic Dancer were true-black females...and a stunning girls they are! Shadow birthed a beautiful little black male last October, sired by Royal Peruvian Challenger. He has a white snip on his nose and varying amounts of white on his feet, and moves like a racehorse. He is a very exciting young male. Shadow apparently had a retained CL and missed "catching" this spring. She will be held over to the fall. We are contemplating who to breed her to: Marzipan or one of Thundercreek's lovely herdsires. Choices, choices, choices...happy choices! Sire: Lanark's Jackson - Dam Lanark's Nell DOB: September 1995 |

RCF Grizzabella
This girl is the "Grand Dam" of our herd and the first cria sired by our former herdsire, Lord Byron. Covered in beautiful fiber, medium taupe in color, our Grizz is a big girl with the works who knocks 'em dead both in and out of the show ring! She has performed well amongst very stiff competition, both in halter and in fleece classes. We are quite proud of our Grizz! Not only is she beautiful, but she is an outstanding mother, providing excellent care and plenty of milk to her crias. Her first cria, sired by Royal Peruvian Challenger, was an enhanced copy of herself, and a top ribbon-winner in her own right. Next, she gave us a true-black little female, also a blue-ribbon winner, sired by Alta Luna's Clipper. The next three crias made a strong contribution to our run of males, although there were very nice ones. Other than the fact that she gave us three males in a row, we have no complaints about Grizz's production. This spring she broke the run for us. After 10 males in a row, and nearly 5 years of waiting, Grizz's mating with Marzipan produced a beautiful medium/dark brown female! We named her RCF Four Leaf Clover in the hopes that she is out ticket out of this run of little boys. Grizz will be held open until the fall and will, most likely, be bred to one of Thundercreek's herdsires at that time. Sire: Lord Byron - Dam: Lanark's Nell DOB: November 1998 |

RCF TarBaby
RCF TarBaby combines the best of both her sire and dam to make her a truly outstanding little girl: Wonderful bone and conformation, beautiful fine black fiber with high-frequency crimp, excellent coverage and density, and a lovely little head! Wow! That she also got Grizz's easy-going temperament is just icing on the cake! This girl is special! The judge at the VA Classic thought so too, giving her the first place in the Yearling Black Female class! Not bad for the only show she has entered! TarBaby's first cria was born last year, a gorgeous little light/medium brown male sired by Hobby Horse Farm's CPeruvian Winchester. This year she produced another lovely male, sired by Marzipan. Since he was the 10th male cria in a row, we named him RCF Diez, but over time we have changed his name to RCF Diez-Diablo. This little Diablo thinks he is ready to breed, or to take on anything else that life has to offer. Surprisingly, his little sister Clover is his favorite sidekick. TarBaby is bred to Thundercreek's Meritorious Danser for a spring 2008 cria. We don't even care if this one is a male, he is sure to be spectacular! Sire: Alta Luna's Clipper - Dam: RCF Grizzabella DOB: October 2002 |

JennaBelle
An exciting addition made to our herd in 2003 is JennaBelle, a lovely true black girl. Jenna was originally from the High Plains Ranch, a Canadian producer known for the quality of their alpacas. Jenna has produced five gorgeous crias to date, three of them black, and we are hoping that she will continue this trend for us. Jennabelle has strong true-black genes from both her dam and sire going back several generations. She is conformationally sound, with good coverage, outstanding luster, and a very nice soft handle to her fleece, along with regular, Merino-style crimp right to the tips of her fiber. We have been hoping that Jenna will help "blacken up" our herd. Jenna has shown that she is all that we look for in a dam: she is an easy birther, an attentive mother, and produces abundant milk! Jenna has also been a strong contributor to our run of boys, having produced three for us since she has been here. Her latest, sired by Marzipan is bay black....or maybe true black....and cute as a button. Running low on boy names, I named him for the son of a friend who was having his second birthday on the day he was born, thus, RCF Seamus it is. Jenna is being held to the fall and will likely be bred to our RCF Winchester's Duke. Now, that should be quite a combination! Sire: DHH Major - Dam: Lo Southern Belle DOB: August 1998 |

RCF Seamus
Jennabelle surprised us with our 9th male cria in a row, born nearly two weeks before expected. RCF Seamus shares his name and his birthday with the son of a friend of mine. Both little boys are as cute as can be! Our Seamus is covered in lovely soft black fiber on a sturdy frame. We are very pleased with him and will be watching his development over the next year to judge his promise. In the meantime, we are enjoying watching him frolic in our pastures! Sire: Hobby Horse Farm Marzipan - Dam: Jennbelle DOB: April 2007 |

|
RCF Diez-Diablo
Although expected to arrive first, Diablo was born four days after Seamus, and was the tenth male cria in a row born to RCF. We started with just the name RCF Diez, but his personality soon led us to add -Diablo. He has the curiosity of a cat and enormous self confidence, making him a lot of fun to have in the barn. This devilish little fellow is the same color as his sire, only with black points. His fiber is incredibly soft and fine, at least for the moment. Since both his sire and dam have lovely fiber, we are hoping that he will retain much of these characteristics as he grows. This little male thinks that he should be breeding all the open females that are in with him, and looks as though he knows what he is doing, as well. He is certainly one who will be weaned early, rather than late! In the meantime, we are letting the seasoned dams teach him some manners. Sire: Hobby Horse Farm Marzipan - Dam: RCF TarBaby DOB: April 2007 |

|
RCF Four Leaf Clover
Our last cria born this spring was hardly the least. RCF Four Leaf Clover was the first female born to RCF in nearly five years. We felt like releasing a mass of balloons in celebration of her arrival! Covered in soft little curls of dark brown fiber with black points, our Clover shows signs of being a beauty. Of course, she could be pea green and would still be beautiful in our eyes! We are hoping that Clover is going to change our luck and break this long, long run of males! Sire: Hobby Horse Farm Marzipan - Dam: Grizzabella DOB: May 2007 |

RCF Macusani's Bandido
One of the crias born in our early years is this fellow, RCF Macusani's Bandido. Named for his mischieviously marked face, our list of alpacas cannot be complete without Bandit. He serves as a babysitter, transport companion, senior statesman, and most importantly, our granddaughter's show boy. He does a creditable job with the obstacles, and she has a grand time taking him through them. Like most farms, we value our geldings, too, for all that they can do! Sire: Peruvian Macusani - Dam: HG Shadow DOB: October 1998 |
